Maersk has popular as the largest shipper line for the first time in more than a quarter of a century. Now this company is on way to lose this leadership.<\/p>\n

Mediterranean Shipping Company, managed by former Maersk COO, Soren Toft, has been increasing used tonnage in an extensive way for more than six months. As reported by data from Alphaliner, MSC is now set to carry away the bell its 2M partner Maesk which is at the top of the global rankings.<\/p>\n

According to a report from last November Copenhagen-based Sea-Intelligence underlined that Maersk is persisting a plan of action concentrated on benefit rather than capacity. The analysts noticed “But ‘losing’ the #1 ranking spot, which the carrier has had for a quarter of a century, would still likely have some emotional impact in Copenhagen.”<\/p>\n

In 2004, MSC became the second-largest shipper in the world, after that time, it and Maersk Company have started a competition for the top of global ranking by Alphaliner.<\/p>\n

MSC entered the secondhand markets with their three ships. As reported by Clarksons, MSC has raised to obtained the 2004-built 1,850 teu Acacia Makoto from China’s Qingdao Pengteng for $6.95m, the 2009-built 1,730 teu Voronezh from Fesco for $9m, and the 2006-built 1,732 teu RHL Aurora from Hamburger Lloyd for $6.5m. VesselsValue situates a market value of $6.4m, $9.46m and $7.44m on the three ships.<\/p>\n
